About us!

Hi,
We are Samuel & Jessica (Sam & Jess), 26 and 23 years old, and we’ve been living in a big bus since Christmas 2021 (which we bought in early 2020)!

Our story began with a love for travel and discovering the world around us. Out of the blue, without really knowing each other, we set off on a week-long road trip (which ended up being 8 days instead of 4…) in Ontario. Niagara Falls, Toronto, Ottawa, Stratford (Sam had to earn some points somehow), but especially Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines – which have become some of our must-see spots in Ontario.

When we got back, we were already inseparable, and that’s when our adventure truly began.

Sam had already been thinking about doing a road trip across Canada and asked me, “Would you want to come with me before starting university?” As you can guess, the answer was a big YES (and, well… there was no marine biology university for Jess that year!).

That’s what convinced us to take on a long journey with a Dodge Caravan, which we converted with our beginner skills and limited budget (not very practical or functional…). After 6 months on the road, tons of fun, a rebuilt transmission, and countless headaches from bumping our heads on the ceiling, we realized we needed a bigger vehicle to suit our needs.

So, we started searching for a bus that met all our criteria and took the leap into this big adventure – with ZERO knowledge of construction or mechanics… Over time, we simply realized that to gain those skills, all you need is the desire to learn – everything is possible if you’re willing to find the solution!

Thanks to our curiosity, our many contacts, and a bit of luck, we eventually found our ideal bus. But we quickly realized that without that luck and our supportive network, we probably wouldn’t have succeeded so easily. So, for the past two years, we’ve also been running Skoolie.ca, a service that helps people find a bus that fits their unique project needs.

For ANYONE interested in bus conversion projects – whether you’re just curious or fully committed – we also offer tours of different bus models (including our own if you’d like) that you can try out to evaluate your needs. It’s free, and it comes with a range of resources to guide you throughout your conversion.

Feel free to reach out – we’d love to connect and maybe see you on the road!

Sam & Jess
